Linocut Printmaking on Textiles | SEPPELTSFIELD
JamFactory Barossa:
Workshops at Seppeltsfield Estate
Learn how to design, carve and print your own lino block patterns and illustrations onto paper and fabric in this hands-on workshop led by highly-qualified printmaking artist and educator Hanah Williams.
Participants will be guided through the process of sketching and preparing their designs, carving their composition out of an Ezy Carve block using a range of techniques, and how to print by hand onto both paper and fabric, experimenting with different coloured inks and repeat-pattern printing.
All printmaking tools and materials will be supplied. You'll be provided with individual calico squares and a tote bag for printing; participants are encouraged to bring along any additional fabric or paper items they wish to print on, as well as reference images for inspiration if desired.
Students will take home a collection of finished prints on fabric and paper, their own printed tote bag, carved lino blocks, their own set of carving tools and the skills required to continue printing at home.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, no prior printmaking experience required. Please dress ready to print (we recommend wearing an old shirt in case of any stray ink; aprons will also be available for additional protection), and bring a folder or bag to transport your prints home in.
